Edward Tusamba Moises' Biography

Edward-t Moises was born in Angola at the moment where his mother was fleeing the atrocities systematically inflicted to civilian populations during the war of liberation of Angola that ended in 1975 with the agreement of Alvor. He came from a poor community. The brutality of war forced him becomes a self-raised eight years old who lost the traces of his parents in the forest of successive wars Angola has faced. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Kinshasa in collaboration with the government of “Governo Revolutionario Angolano in Exile” resolved to place a eight years boy in the military Camp of Kingantoko (in Republic of Zaire) where he started his elementary school administrated under the shadow of tree. As it was the rule for all boys of his age at that time, he was incorporated in Army of National Front of Liberation of Angola where he received basic military training. He is a committed advocate for the causes of those who cannot assert their own fundamental rights.  
 
In 2005, he started intriguing President Dos Santos and its MPLA Regime when he started promoting a provocative advocacy program administrated  under the auspice of the “Universidade Rene Descartes de Angola.” Why? Because, for the first time in the history of Angola, an ordinary citizen has challenged his dictatorship regime through activities that had focused on equipping and empowering civil rights lawyers and public servants with advocacy and servant leadership skills. Civil rights lawyers and servants were trained to be change maker advocates.  They were expected to be strong enough and wise enough to advocate and implement policies deemed to promote the spirit of love, liberty and justice for the purpose of transforming organizations, communities, and Angolan nation for the benefit of people. 
 
In 2015, Edward-t continued to intrigue the regime of Dos Santos and his loyalists of party of MPLA when he took the step to initiated a human rights abuses action in the United States District Court of Maryland. The Action was directed against Angola’s Dictator Jose Eduardo dos Santos and his similarly related defendants  for their engagement in inflicting atrocities, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, violation of customary international law and other tortious acts against activists, journalists, political opponents, priests, academia, and similarly related unprivileged Angolan people. Edward-t's actions had geared remarkable interest in public opinions for two raisons:  1) for the first time in the history of Angola, a seating president of Angola was submitted before the federal Court for crime against humanity; and 2) for the first time in the history of Angola appeared an institution focused on executive programs were programs focused on actions associated with promoting rule of law.

Synopsis​

Edward-t has served as associate lawyer the supervision of  Maitre Fremaux of the Law Firm of Fremaux and Associate in Paris, France from 1994 to 1999. He is not a U.S. Licensed lawyer. He dismissed his intent of becoming a U.S. licensed lawyer when he understood that his God-given mission was associated with his desire of becoming an advocate of good cause.  Speaker at the United States Institute of Leadership and Diplomacy, one of the truth from those who know his infancy will tell you that he never grew up in a regular family environment. 

 

Life Journey​

After the peace treaty of Alvor, in 1975, Edward-t returned to Angola. As it may be known, the mid-1970s has a time when the Soviets seemed most hopeful about their prospects in the third world. In fact, this was the time a Politburo deluded itself into playing serious games in far-flung corners of the globe. This followed the American defeat in Vietnam, Richard M. Nixon’s willingness to treat Leonid Brezhnev as an equal and a period of economic uncertainties in West — all misread in Moscow as signs of American decline which led in using Cubans as surrogates and empowered the Soviet intervenes in peripheral nations of southern Africa. This misreading led in 1975 the regime of MPLA in complicity with the Soviet and Cuba to breach the terms of Peace Treaty of Alvor that had placed communist regime to take control of Angola. Since than, the country became one of the Soviets well-armed and well-founded country of the Third World. Communist model along with all of evil badges that go toes to toes with dictatorship regime started running the country at an exponential rate. An absolute and stable dictatorship regime were established as a legitimate mode of ruling the nation. Trapped in the midst of a regime which systematically persecuted opponents, Edward-t fled Angola. As a rule, in 1987, a regular boy of his age was not permitted to travel outside of Angola.  He fled to France where he declares of having been learned a difference between a restricted freedom nation and an unrestricted freedom nation. Edward-t attended Jean Monnet School of law of the University Paris XI. He also attended the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Politiques de Paris. He is the first promotion of the PhD program of international relational and diplomacy administrated by the School of international Relations of Paris. He is a fellow in the 9th Session of French Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies (CEDS). He attended Beasley School of Law at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. At Temple he concentrated his education in the practice of trial advocacy. He graduated from Temple in 2005.  Having a life journey filled with sorrows and woes, Edward-t's has built his educational foundations on the premise that, one day, he would make a case that would influence decision-makers move Angola forward in a direction where restricted liberty, injustice, and corruption would be replaced by unrestricted liberty and justice; a place where rule of law would prevail and where a judge would rule cases in accordance with an ethical principle of fairness instead of a place where decisions would have been based on political bias and through influence and will of the ruling system. 

Advocacy and Leadership 

Edward-t has long worked for positive changes. He always had been very concerned about the inobservance of rule of law and Human Rights Abuses in Angola. He is not unknown. His braveness of bringing for the first time in the history of Angola a legal action against a seating dictator, Jose Eduardo dos Santos in the Federal Court of the District of Maryland (see Moises v, Dos Santos) on the grounds of crime against humanity has revealed him to the eyes of many experts.  It is a secret for no one that Angola human rights record appears to be very dark. The country is known for its official corruption, impunity; limits on freedom of assembly and freedom of speech; cruel and excessive punishment, extrajudicial killings including report cases on torture and beatings. Edward-t has always challenged the system for its lack of boundary between executive and judiciary that bar a regular citizen to possibly bring a legal action against a seating president or against high ranking of the system.  While there may exist some apparent constitutional legal rights, the ruling system is established within the premise of existing hidden link between executive and judiciary which prevents regular citizens start any action against those who rule the country. Consequently, Angolan's authorities regularly commend responsibilities to their agents for the purpose of inflicting great harm to their own citizens without being subjected to justice. Edward-t started advocacy in France. He had worked closely with the historic leader of National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA), Mr. Holden Roberto. He had served as director of diplomatic affairs at the Representation of FNLA in France. Edward-t has resolved to distance himself from the FNLA because it was his belief that the party lacked ethic in its leadership. In 1998, he returned to Angola. The regime of MPLA continued to exercise repressions against opponents, especially those who had strong ties with western philosophy. He felt unsafe and resolved to flee to the US. In 2005 he again returned to Angola in attempt to redress the issues that had confiscated the freedom and justice of Angolan people. He co-founded a nonprofit organization known under the name of "Associacao dos Profissionais de Administracao, Diplomacia e Assuntos Globais (APGA)." Within the scope of APDGA, he promoted the project of Universidade Rene Descartes de Angola. Universidade Rene Descartes de Angola became "Institute Superior Rene Descartes de Angola (ISRDA)." Under ISRDA initiative, Moises successfully implemented a provocative program that had deployed a rule of law initiative designed to raise awareness about possible application of universal principles of morality based on fairness, liberty and justice. His goal was to raise discussion on Angolan constitutional mechanisms designed of identifying and declaring unconstitutionalities; where unprivileged Angolan citizens would have been empowered with constitutional tools that would permitted them challenge actions deemed to abridge their fundamental rights.

 

Faith 

Describing his faith, Moises declares:  “I feel a sense of a God’s spirit moving toward a special call. I have reasons to believe that the Universal Father wants me execute an important mission, a mission that imposes upon my person a duty of care to those whose rights are being violated.” He added: “I feel compelled not only of preaching the gospel of morality, fairness, liberty and justice, but also advocate for the universal jurisdiction to hold accountable those perpetrators who engage in human rights crimes”. Edward-t Moises knowledges that challenges ahead would be too great to meet alone. He has declared himself as being an Apostle of Jesus. He was asked the question on" how can he sustain his declaration of faith commitment while he is not a known leader of any church nor a leader of any religious movement? He responded in the following way: “the truth is that Jesus Christ was not a member of any specific church or religion nor does He favor any specific acts of church or religion. In a time of religious genius, strong spiritual faith so many times leads to disastrous fanaticism, to exaggeration of religious ego, but it was not for Jesus. Jesus was not affected in His extraordinary faith and spirit attainment because His spiritual exaltation was a wholly unconscious and spontaneous soul expression of his personal experience with God. All churches or religions believes which devote services and exalt Jesus Christ as the King of the kings and recognize in Him as our Savior are treated in equal part in the presence of the Almighty God.” While religion does in fact provide tools that help grow personal experience with God, what it does not provide is a salvation. Salvation is earned through spontaneous soul expression of personal experience with Almighty God.” Edward-t Moises exhorts that, “the ability to unify our human and divine being functioning on earth as a single personality is what reveals the mystery of personal faith, spiritual hope, and moral devotion.” Moises goes to explain the purpose of his existence on earth as: instilling love, bringing light in the midst of darkness, and defending causes of those who cannot assert their own fundamental rights.”
